a WW1 Trench Art buttonhook with washers of brass, aluminium, copper and plastic discs. Additionally there are also circular inserts giving added ornamentation. The steel shaft is also unusual in that it is made from the “flying wire” from early bi-planes. A Rolls Royce of trench art craftsmanship!

a figural silver handled buttonhook of a duck emerging from rushes by  Crisford & Norris,  established in 1896 at 118 Vyse Street, Birmingham. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1907. There are 3 sizes of this buttonhook of which  this is the middle size example

a George V figural silver handled golf club by Adie & Lovekin, established in 1879 at Regent Street, Birmingham. It is the largest of three versions of this buttonhook by A&L and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1910

an all-silver STERLING buttonhook by American maker Dominick & Haff who like his contemporary George W Scheibler specialised in all-silver construction button hooks.. It has the hand crafted look and is inscribed with initials and Christmas 1885. Intriguing in that this date is 3 years before most of the earliest English silver buttonhooks. Possibly the opportunity to buy your earliest Christmas present this year?

an embossed silver Edwardian scabbard buttonhook by Francis Webb, established at 19 Great Hampton Street, Birmingham in 1887. The hook part is reversible and fits into the handle making it compact when not in use. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1903
