a Victorian silver handled golf club buttonhook with agate inserts to the club face by Adie & Lovekin. It is hallmarked A&LL Chester 1897. All previous known golf clubs by Adie & Lovekin are from 1907 to 1913 and assayed in Birmingham but none with agate inserts so this is a rare item indeed

a Victorian Scottish pebble & silver glove buttonhook by Adie & Lovekin, established in 1879 at Regent Street, Birmingham. Scottish agates were popularised by Queen Victoria after Prince Albert found agate “pebbles” in the highland burns and had them made into jewellery for his Queen. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1894
