a figural  PIERROT silver handled buttonhook by J&R Griffin, established in 1903 at 28 Hilton Street, Birmingham. Pierrot is a character from French pantomime, with a frilly collaret & conical hat. It is extremely rare as a figural silver buttonhook

a Victorian/Edwardian silver handled figural buttonhook in the form of a leaping leopard. The maker’s mark is ALLd for Adie & Lovekin who made a series of figural designs, many featuring animals. There are two leopards in the series plus matching shoehorn and this is the larger of the two. The date letter is rubbed but known to have been produced between 1895-1904

a Whitby Jet glove buttonhook, hand carved with inscription WHITBY and the cross symbolising the Abbey. Jet is a geological material and is considered to be a minor gemstone. It is not considered a true mineral, but rather a mineraloid as it has an organic origin, being derived from decaying wood under extreme pressure. The English noun “jet” derives from the French word for the same material jaiet

figural silver buttonhook in the form of a sitting cat. It is one of the less common figurals from the series by Crisford & Norris,  established at Vyse St Birmingham in 1896. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1909
