It was a limited edition of 150 and this item is number 086 with certificate confirming authenticity. The handle is silver-gilt and blue enamel fitted to an original 1930's steel shaft & is offered in the original case. The maker is Toye, Kenning & Spencer Ltd and is hallmarked B2000.

Item description this design of traditional Chinese dragon is usually associated with Chinese Export Silver buttonhooks but I have to admit never having seen this style of construction with steel shank. It could be a marriage of Chinese silver handle and English steel shank but close inspection shows it to have been in the current form for many, many years if not an original from the late 19th century. There are no marks on the silver but the chasing of the dragon is impressive

It is a rare example of a buttonhook by WMF of Germany and has a silver plated handle and steel shaft.
